De Burgerrr
During this piece, I was beginning to appreciate pinks a bit more, inspired by the sunset and deep red flowers. I imagined a panther in deep, saturated pinks. Panthers used to be natives of the Gulf Coast. I hope to see them one day be able to return.
This painting of course made me think of the 2006 Pink Panther movie, a childhood favorite of mine. A famous line from this movie comes when Inspector Clouseau is trying to pronounce ‘hamburger’ and he just really struggles. In the end, he ends up with “De Burgerrr”. I named this piece after Pink Panther not only because of the subject, but also because much like Clouseau, I was attempting something new in terms of color, and I translated it in my own way.
